STEPS TO CHRIST: GOD'S LOVE FOR MAN

Nature and revelation alike testify of God's love. Our Father in heaven is the source of life, of wisdom, and of joy. Look at the wonderful and beautiful things of nature. Think of their marvelous adaptation to the needs and happiness, not only of man, but of all living creatures. The sunshine and the rain, that gladden and refresh the earth, the hills and seas and plains, all speak to us of the Creator's love. It is God who supplies the daily needs of all His creatures. In the beautiful words of the psalmist— “The eyes of all wait upon Thee;

And Thou givest them their meat in due season.
Thou openest Thine hand,
And satisfiest the desire of every living thing.” Psalm 145:15, 16.

NEWSTART: "T" IS FOR TRUST

Trust Principle

“Keep your wants, your joys, your sorrows, your cares, and your fears before God…. ‘The Lord is very pitiful and of tender mercy.’ James 5:11. His heart of love is touched by our sorrows and even by our utterances of them…. Nothing that in any way concerns our peace is too small for Him to notice. There is no chapter in our experience too dark for Him to read; there is no perplexity too difficult for Him to unravel. No calamity can befall the least of His children, no anxiety harass the soul, no joy, cheer, no sincere prayer escape the lips, of which our heavenly Father is unobservant, or in which He takes no immediate interest. ‘He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds.’Psalm 147:3.”— Ellen White

As Seventh-day Adventist Christians we obviously believe in a higher power- God. We also believe in having a close and personal relationship with our savior and that in this relationship he cares for us and loves us immensely.

One of the SDA health principles is trusting in God. While trusting in God may not seem to be health related, we believe that trust is something that benefits our mental and emotional health. This in turn can benefit our overall physical health.

THE GREAT SEAL

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the 7th day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the 7th day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the 7th day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. Genesis 2:1-3

The seal of the president of the United States is used to mark correspondence from the president of the United States to the U.S. Congress, and is also used as a symbol of the presidency itself. The central design, based on the Great Seal of the United States first adopted by the U.S. Congress on June 20, 1782, is the official coat of arms of the U.S. presidency and also appears on the presidential flag.

A king’s seal is like a signature, password, and stamp of authority all in one—authenticating royal documents and protecting them from tampering. Historically, a king’s seal served as a symbol of the monarch's sovereign authority.

All royal seals—especially historical ones—tend to share three core elements that identify them as official and authoritative symbols of the monarch:

  • The monarchs name
  • The monarchs official title
  • A description of their domain

Did you know that God also has an official seal?

ASPARAGUS & CHICKPEA SALAD

Asparagus offers numerous health benefits due to its rich nutrient profile, including vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. It may aid in digestion, support healthy blood pressure, and potentially help with cancer prevention. Additionally, it's a good source of folate, which is crucial for pregnant women.

Radishes, a cruciferous vegetable, offer several health benefits. They are a good source of vitamin C, fibre, and antioxidants, potentially reducing the risk of cancer and other diseases. Some compounds in radishes may help detoxify the liver. Radishes also support digestive health, help with blood sugar control, and may offer anti-fungal properties.

As the spring produce is finally here, and the asparagus and radish are in season, this tasty salad is full of flavours and also very nutritious. Everything you need for the perfect spring dish!

HOUSE-BAND OF THE FAMILY

And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath:
but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
 Ephesians 6:4

While we have dwelt upon the importance of the mother's work and mission, we would not lightly pass over the duty and responsibility of the husband and father in the training of his children. His efforts should be in harmony with those of the God-fearing mother. He should manifest his love and respect for her as the woman he has chosen and the mother of his children....

Fathers should ... mingle with the children, sympathizing with them in their little troubles, binding them to their hearts by the strong bonds of love, and establishing such an influence over their expanding minds that their counsel will be regarded as sacred....

NEWSTART: "R" IS FOR REST

Rest Principle

From the Seventh-day Adventist Diet

“A life in Christ is a life of restfulness.”—Ellen G. White, Steps to Christ

What is Rest?

Rest may be thought of as good sleep, meditation to relax your brain or “taking it easy” after excessive physical activity or sickness. While it can be all these things, Seventh-day Adventists also include the Sabbath which is an entire day devoted to resting.

“He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made.”
Genesis 2:2

PENTECOST

Based on Acts 2:1-39

As the disciples returned from Olivet to Jerusalem, the people looked on them, expecting to see on their faces expressions of sorrow, confusion, and defeat; but they saw there gladness and triumph. The disciples did not now mourn over disappointed hopes. They had seen the risen Saviour, and the words of His parting promise echoed constantly in their ears.

NEWSTART: "A" FOR AIR

Fresh Air Principle

“The stomach, liver, lungs, and brain are suffering for want of deep, full inspirations of air which would electrify the blood and impart to it a bright, lively color, and which alone can keep it pure, and give tone and vigor to every part of the living machinery.”—Ellen G. White, Testimonies Vol. 2, pp. 67-68

Fresh Air Principle
It may seem silly-obvious, but one of the Seventh-day Adventist health principles is to get out in fresh air. While this may be one of the simplest principles, it is often forgotten, or just simply not practiced with the same importance of other things such as nutrition or exercise.
