Is the Apocrypha Inspired? Testing the "Hidden" Books

An hand holding a vintage magnifying glass over an open, ancient manuscript on a dark wooden table. A dramatic beam of golden light shines down on the weathered pages, illuminating floating dust particles to create a sense of mystery and historical study.

Ever wonder why some Bibles include books like Tobit or Maccabees while others leave them out entirely? In this study, we look into the history of the Apocrypha—meaning "hidden" or "secret"—and test its teachings against the clear, unchanging gospel of Jesus Christ to see how we can better spot spiritual counterfeits by knowing the genuine Word of God. We love digging into these deep biblical truths together, and we invite you to join us this Sabbath at church as we study God’s Word together, fellowship as a community, and anchor our hearts in the true Gospel of Grace; we would love to welcome you!

Happy Father's Day

A Father’s Day Message: Honouring a Sacred Trust

Happy Father’s Day to the men who strive to guide, protect, and nurture the hearts entrusted to their care. Today, we honour you not merely for providing for your families, but for the quiet and enduring influence you have upon the lives of your children.

We recognize that fatherhood is a weighty calling. The demands of work, financial pressures, and the many responsibilities of life can easily consume a man's time and energy. Yet amid these competing claims, Scripture reminds fathers that their highest earthly work is not measured by wealth accumulated or position attained, but by the love, wisdom, and godly influence they bring into their homes.

As you read the following selections from the writings of Ellen G. White, we hope you find both encouragement and renewed purpose. The Lord calls fathers to something far greater than mere authority: to win the confidence of their children, to share in their joys and sorrows, to point them to the Creator through the wonders of His works, and to shape characters fitted for eternity. The "golden hours" spent understanding and guiding a child are among life's most precious investments, yielding a harvest that will endure long after earthly pursuits have faded away.

To our fathers: may you be strengthened in the knowledge that your influence matters deeply. The home needs your presence, your affection, your example, and your prayers. May God grant you grace to fulfill this sacred trust, and may your children rise up to call you blessed—not only in this life, but in the kingdom to come.

Healing Herbs: Benefits and Uses

God’s Little Green Medicines: The Health Benefits of Common Kitchen Herbs

For more than a century, Seventh-day Adventists have emphasized the value of simple, natural foods as part of a balanced and healthful lifestyle. Rather than depending heavily on salt, sugar, rich sauces, or highly processed ingredients to make food appealing, herbs offer a wonderful alternative—adding colour, aroma, and flavour while also contributing beneficial nutrients and plant compounds. They remind us that wholesome food need not be bland or complicated. In God's wisdom, many of the plants He created to delight our senses may also help support our health, making herbs a beautiful example of how flavour and wellness can go hand in hand.

If these principles of health, simple living, and appreciation for God's gifts resonate with you, we warmly invite you to join us for Sabbath worship. We would be delighted to share with you not only practical insights for healthy living, but also the hope and joy we have found in the Creator who lovingly provides for all our needs.

More Than a Game: Rethinking Our Love for Sports

Perspective on Sports and True Recreation

There is no denying that our city is currently the centre of major global attention as a host for the 2026 World Cup. With football dominating the local conversation and filling our streets, it serves as a timely reminder of just how much influence athletic entertainment and physical culture hold in modern society.

As a church community, large events like this offer a natural opportunity to pause and reflect on our own approach to leisure. How do we, as Christians, navigate a culture so heavily focused on sports and entertainment? What is the difference between activities that merely pass the time and those that truly restore the soul?

The classic Christian book Education provides a profound framework for thinking through these questions. It contrasts popular "amusements" with true "re-creation"—the kind of wholesome activity that genuinely builds up the mind, body, and character. (Link below.)

Whether you are looking for perspective on the current cultural moment or seeking a healthier rhythm for your family, we hope you find these timeless insights valuable. And if you are looking for a welcoming environment focused on spiritual growth and community, we invite you to fellowship with us this Saturday morning. Come enjoy a peaceful atmosphere of Bible study and reflection—we would love to have you with us.

Ministry of Healing: Diet & Health

Welcome back to our bi-weekly journey through The Ministry of Healing. This Tuesday, we are exploring the foundational connection between what we consume and how we function, both physically and spiritually.

In this chapter, "Diet and Health," Ellen White delves into how mindful choices in our everyday meals can preserve our physical energy and clear our minds for deeper spiritual focus. It is a beautiful reminder that taking care of our health is a personal duty and a practical way to honour the bodies we've been given.

If you enjoy reflecting on these principles of holistic well-being, you are always welcome to join us for worship and fellowship this coming Sabbath. We would love to have you visit!

Christ Object Lessons: Like Unto Leaven

True transformation doesn't start with fixing outward habits—it begins quietly from within. In this chapter, "Like Unto Leaven," Ellen G. White explores Christ's beautiful parable of the bread dough, showing how God’s grace works like leaven. It's a silent, invisible, yet total transformation of the heart that completely reshapes how we think, love, and live.

If you are looking for a welcoming space to reflect on these truths, connect with community, and find a little rest, you are always welcome to join us for church this coming Sabbath. We'd love to have you.
